Team Tigmus were lucky to catch Joe Hicks supporting his friend and bandmate Adam Barnes at his London album launch show this time last month... he's been releasing solo tunes for just over a year and shared Rest Your Head just before the gig last month. It's written about a friend's struggle with depression and is incredibly moving. Our track of the week this weeks comes in the shape of an acoustic version from an upcoming EP of acoustic tracks which is set for release in April - we're loving this one. Check it out, then discover more of Joe's music on Soundcloud here.

Gig of the week: Rae Morris at Heaven, London (28th March)
We've been completely mesmerised by the recent Rae Morris record since it's release back in February, so it feels only right to make the closing night of her UK tour, the London date at Heaven, our gig of the week. With support from Pauli and two records of stunning tunes under her belt, Rae is sure to put on a spectacular show both musically and visually. We wish we were going - so this is our recommendation!! More info and tickets here. Check out this beautiful stripped back performance of the record's title track Someone Out There below...

Track of the week: Self Help - 'Sensation'
Our track of the week this week comes from Oxford's Self Help, with the final track of their new BirthdayBoy EP, Sensation. We're loving the whole release and this track finishes things off wonderfully, particularly its wild closing guitar solo! The 4-piece, made up of Danny Jeffries (guitar, vocals), Silke Blasjaar (drums), Lizzie Couves (bass) and Sean Cousins (guitar), are one of a really special bunch of bands emerging in Oxford at the moment and we love catching them live. If you like what you're hearing, check out the full EP here and head along to the hometown launch show at The Cellar this Friday (info here.)

Gig of the week: Karima Francis at The Finsbury Pub (20/3/18)
Happy Monday! Our gig of the week this week comes from our friends at Lost In The Manor, who are putting on what sounds to us like a pretty beautiful line-up at The Finsbury in London this Tuesday (20th March.) Headlining the night is Tigmus favourite Karima Francis, previewing songs from her fourth album which she is currently working on. Making up the rest of the line-up are Freddie Dickson who we caught a couple of years ago and really enjoyed on a Communion Music tour, and Lilac Underworld will be opening the show. Get yourselves down for what is sure to be a lovely evening of live music!

Track of the week: Low Island - 'I Can See Through'
It's no secret that Team Tigmus utterly adore Low Island and we're very excited to share news that their latest EP, This Other Life, is out now. If we could make the entire EP our track(s) of the week we would do... but for now, the brand new tune I Can See Through will do! You can listen to that, and the rest of the EP, on Spotify here. The guys filmed a short documentary with DIY Magazine on the road last year, check that out below. Finally - catch them live at Scala in London on 26th April, we'll see you down at the front!

Gig of the week: Self Help EP release at The George Tavern (16/3/18)
If we can say so ourselves, we've got some pretty cracking gigs happening at the minute... we're choosing another of our own shows as the gig of the week for the second week in a row today, with the Self Help EP launch at The George Tavern on Friday night. They're a young Oxford band who are on tour to promote the Birthdayboy EP - we're digging Daydreams, the first single from it which you can watch the video for below. Loved having them play at our all-dayer in Oxford over Summer and can't wait for the show this week - they'll be supported by Waiting for Smith and Dog of Man.

Track of the week: Gengahr - 'Where Wildness Grows'
Dreamy new release for our track of the week feature this week! The lovely Gengahr chaps are releasing their second record Where Wildness Grows this Friday (alongside a debut from Ady Suleiman which we're pretty excited for too) and they've shared the album's title track. It's a complete beauty like the other tracks that have already been released from the record - we can't wait to hear it in full! Check out the new track below...
