Gig of the week: Merlyn Driver at Green Note London (19th July)

This week's gig of the week is close friend of Tigmus Merlyn Driver who plays his debut London headline show at Green Note (just a 5 min walk from Camden Town tube). Support comes from NAMLO, and if you're a fan of folky singer-songwriters then Merlyn's music will be right up your street! Check out his acoustic performance on the edge of a forest in Norway below. Track of the week: Banfi - 'She Comes Home'

There could only really be one contender for this week's track of the week once Banfi announced that they were releasing their latest single last Friday, and they certainly didn't disappoint with She Comes Home. Tig Digs: Too Many Zooz - 'Bedford'

3am on the New York subway.... you're tired, probably feeling a little worse for wear and Too Many Zooz enter the carriage bringing their party vibes to your early morning. Probably not ideal but it makes for a really fun one shot music video from the trio with their track Bedford. They're coming across the pond for a UK tour in July/August including a show at KOKO on 1st August.  

Gig of the week: The West London Music Festival (13th July)

This week's gig of the week is in West London, with some of the best West London artists including the likes of Tigmus fave Sam Swallow, STAXS, Purdy and more taking to the beautiful surroundings of Bush Hall this Thursday, 13th July. The show is in support of the Nordoff Robbins Charity, the UK's largest music therapy charity, and you can grab tickets on the venue website here!

Track of the week: Public Service Broadcasting - 'They Gave Me A Lamp'

Our track of the week this week comes from Public Service Broadcasting, a truly unique and fantastic band who we were chuffed to catch at the Music Venue Trust show at The Roundhouse back in October. Following their brilliant 2015 record The Race for Space which uses sound samples from the BFI to relive the story of the American and Soviet space race from 1957-1972, their upcoming record Every Valley focuses on the history of the mining industry in Wales. I've had a sneak listen of the album which is set for release this Friday 7th July (alongside lots of other releases from the likes of Sivu, Lucy Rose and Haim) and it's sounding just as great as I'd hoped - get listening to They Gave Me A Lamp below!

Tig Digs: Catgod - 'I'm Innocent'

Oxford musical collective Catgod have released I'm Innocent, a Talking Heads-esque track and the second of three which make up their upcoming Someone Love EP. While the title track (which you can listen to here) is busy getting radio play from Lauren Laverne on BBC Radio 6, Tigmus's own Oli Steadman gave the new track its radio debut on Hoxton Radio last Friday, which you can listen back to here towards the end of the show.

We've all been digging I'm Innocent in the band's live performances that we've been lucky to catch over the first half of the year, including a support slot at our sold out Holly Redford Jones EP launch in Oxford and the secret opening slot in our Alt Escape stage at Brighton's Great Escape festival, and we're sure that audiences at Common People, Cowley Road Carnival and Tandem Festival to name a few have been enjoying their tunes too over the last few weeks! One of your next chances to catch them live is in London at their EP launch show at The Harrison, a folk venue in King's Cross, on Thurs 27th July - tickets here!

Gig of the week: Joe Hicks at Oxford's Jericho Tavern (3rd July)

Oxford! Our gig of the week this week is tonight at one of our favourite local venues, the Jericho Tavern. You might know Joe Hicks as guitarist for Adam Barnes, but he's started up a solo project with a couple of EPs under his belt already, and tonight he plays his debut live show with support from Georgia Michel.
