Gig of the week: BBC Introducing at The Lexington (3rd May)

Our gig of the week shoutout this week is for the latest offering from BBC Introducing at The Lexington, where they regularly curate line-ups of brilliant up and coming artists. This time around, on Thursday, they've got Sad Boys Club, Ferris & Sylvester and Rhys Lewis - a superb selection of artists! Check out Rhys' beautifully honest Reason To Hate You performed for Mahogany Sessions below...

Sadly this show is already sold out - if you were lucky to snap up a ticket, have fun.... if not, keep an eye out on the BBC Introducing socials for future gigs!

Track of the week: Franc Moody - 'Pheromones'

We loved Franc Moody at the Friendly Fires show earlier this month (and we're hoping to catch them at The Great Escape next month) - so much so that we're making their tune Pheremones, taken from their recent Dance Moves EP, our track of the week. Love this one! They're touring the UK later in the year - check out the dates and grab tickets here!

Gig of the week: Low Island at Scala (26th April)

They're in the midst of a support tour with the mighty Gengahr this month and next across the UK, but our pals in Low Island are making solid use of a night off with their own headline show at London's Scala this Thursday, which happens to be their biggest headline show to date! In our eyes, there's not really much competition against this show for our Gig Of The Week, especially if their shows at Corsica Studios in November are anything to go by. With some cracking support acts, art pieces and DJs it should be a really fun evening - grab the last remaining tickets here (this will sell out!)

Track of the week: Lucy Leave - 'Look//Listen'

Oxford's music scene wouldn't be quite the same without the bonkers, brilliant tunes of Lucy Leave. They've played some of our best and most fun gigs in Oxford and further beyond, including a tour we booked for them a couple of years ago, and we're excited that they've finally got an album coming out! So much so that the first single to be taken from the record (which happens to be it's title track) is our track of the week! Check out Look//Listen now and catch their album launch gig at Oxford Deaf & Hard of Hearing Centre (promoted by the wonderful people of Divine Schism) on 27th April (info here.)

Gig of the week: Fil Bo Riva at Sebright Arms (17th April)

We can't make it to this one but we believe it's going to be a pretty special night - Fil Bo Riva's show at Sebright Arms tomorrow night is our gig of the week tip! With new tracks to premiere from his as yet unannounced debut album, alongside the likes of singles Like I Did and Head Sonata it should be a wonderful display of talent, with Malena Zavala supporting. Her debut album Aliso was released on Friday - we loved her set opening for Sivu a couple of months ago! Find more info about the show tomorrow here.

Track of the week: Catgod - 'Heartbeat In My Hand'

Our track of the week this week comes from our Oxford favourites Catgod, with their new single Heartbeat In My Hand, which premiered on The Line Of Best Fit last week. With the track focusing around Cat's soothing, almost ethereal vocals it is both gentle and magical. We love it! Catgod headline this Friday in London at The Islington (info here) before playing a free hometown headline at The Cellar in Oxford on 23rd June (info for that one here.)

Gig of the week: PD Liddle at Omeara (13th April)

There are lots of great gigs happening this week so picking our top tip was a tricky one - Christof van der Ven's album launch tomorrow night at Paper Dress Vintage came close, as did our favourites Catgod who headline The Islington on Friday night. Our gig of the week however comes from ex Dry The River frontman Peter Liddle, who returns to the world of gigging with his new solo project, PD Liddle. Performing with a band made up of other DtR members and familiar faces, and with support from our Oxford chum Richard Walters and Dancing Years' Joseph Lawrenson. The show is at one of our favourite venues, the lovely OMEARA - find more info and grab tickets here! Check out the new tune You Shouldn't Have Called below...
